How Much Does a Website Cost in Indianapolis in 2026?

“How much does a website cost?” is the first question almost every business owner asks me, and the honest answer is: it depends on what you need the website to do.

A website that just needs to exist is cheap. A website that needs to rank on Google and make your phone ring is a different product. Here’s a straight breakdown of what Indianapolis businesses typically pay in 2026, and what you get at each level.

The four ways to get a website

1. DIY website builders ($15–$50/month)

Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, and similar platforms let you drag and drop your own site. It’s the cheapest option in dollars, but not in time.

Good for: hobby businesses, brand-new side hustles, anyone who just needs a basic online presence.

The catch: you’re the designer, copywriter, and SEO. Most DIY sites end up slow, generic, and invisible on Google, not because the platforms are bad, but because ranking takes more than a nice template.

2. Freelancers ($500–$3,000 one-time)

A freelancer builds the site, hands you the keys, and moves on to the next project.

Good for: businesses that just need a professional-looking site and plan to handle marketing themselves.

The catch: what happens six months later when you need an update, the site breaks, or you realize nobody can find it? Many freelancers don’t offer ongoing support or SEO.

3. Local web design + SEO partners ($1,000–$5,000 + monthly)

This is where Crossroad Leads sits. You get a custom site built for speed and search, plus ongoing hosting, edits, and optionally local SEO.

Good for: service businesses that want leads, not just a pretty page.

4. Full-service agencies ($5,000–$25,000+)

Big agencies bring big teams: strategists, designers, developers, and account managers.

Good for: larger companies with complex needs and marketing budgets to match.

The catch: small businesses often pay for overhead and get passed to a junior team member.

What actually drives the price

Whoever you hire, these are the factors that move the number up or down:

  • Number of pages. A 5-page site and a 30-page site with city and service pages are very different projects.
  • Copywriting. Writing good, search-optimized content takes real time. Some providers include it; many don’t.
  • Custom design vs. template. Templates are faster. Custom design fits your brand and conversion goals.
  • Functionality. Booking systems, e-commerce, client portals, and integrations add cost.
  • SEO setup. Proper schema markup, metadata, site structure, and speed optimization are often skipped on cheap builds.
  • Ongoing care. Hosting, security, backups, and updates are either included in a monthly plan or left for you to figure out.

The real question: cost vs. return

Here’s how I’d think about it. If your average customer is worth $500 to your business, and a well-built site brings in just two extra customers a month, that’s $1,000 in monthly revenue from a website that might cost $99–$299 a month to maintain.

A cheap website that never ranks isn’t a bargain. It’s a cost with no return.

What Crossroad Leads charges

I believe in transparent pricing, so here it is:

  • Starter: $997 build + $99/mo. A custom 5-page site with hosting, edits, and basic SEO.
  • Growth: $1,997 build + $299/mo. Up to 15 pages, city pages, and monthly local SEO.
  • Dominate: $3,497 build + $599/mo. Unlimited pages, all 12 Indy-area city pages, and aggressive SEO.

Every plan is month-to-month, and you own your website. Full details are on the pricing page.

Bottom line

Don’t shop for a website by price alone. Shop for the outcome you want. If you want calls from Google, make sure whoever builds your site knows how to get you there.
